Work placement programs

MyStartr’s various work placement programs are powered by the Ted Rogers School of Management’s Diversity Institute. Learn more about the different programs offered and eligibility criteria below. Advanced Digital and Professional Training (ADaPT)

ADaPT is a skills development and work placement program that equips new graduates with the Skills for Success Canadian employers are seeking, along with a paid internship. The program is available to post-secondary graduates and students in their final semester from across Canada.

ADaPT for Black Youth

An initiative dedicated to supporting Black youth in developing skills they need and securing work opportunities, the program is for Black youth aged 15 to 29 years in high school, college or university, or who are recent graduates in the Greater Toronto Area, Thunder Bay, Windsor and Kingston.

Lifeline Challenge

Finding a job is an important part of making a new country home. The Lifeline Challenge platform helps connect Afghan and Ukrainian newcomers of all backgrounds and levels of experience to jobs.

MyStartr starts where you are!

 

Whether you are working full-time, in/out of school, working part-time, or still looking, we are here to help you get job-ready – and it’s all free!

 

MyStartr is a free service – we’re a community, government, and employer-funded program dedicated to helping young people and equity-deserving groups find jobs.

Your career coach will help guide you through your skills development and work placement process.

 

You’ll gain access to helpful resources such as online and in-person learning modules, and a library of assets including resume samples, cover letters, and workbooks. Your career coach may also help connect you with mentors in your field of interest and coach you through preparing for job applications.

Our team will help match you with opportunities available through our MyStartr employer coalition and hiring events.

 

We will help guide you through the application process and prepare you for the interview. If the employer has specific skill needs, we’ll also provide you with free tailored upskilling that matches the employer’s needs. These resources and support will help you expand your strengths and ace the interviewer questions.

 

On interview day, we’ll connect you with your chosen employer, go over how it went, and share any feedback we received.

 

We also help with next steps, including what to expect if you receive an offer from the employer!

As a MyStartr member we’re with you on your first day and onwards!

 

Once you have a confirmed job offer, our team will help you go over all the details with your employer. Even on your first day we stay in touch to offer tips and support.
